The Third Party Marketers Association was formed in 1998. Our goals are to cultivate relationships and business opportunities among our members and to provide information and education about our industry. In addition we also aim to enhance our profession’s standards, integrity and business practices. We do this by advancing ongoing agendas such as regulatory compliance and adherence to the highest standards and best practices applied throughout the financial services industry.
Today, 3PM has more than 50 member organizations, which assist in increasing institutional assets for their diverse following of investment manager clients. A “typical” 3PM member-firm is staffed by two or more full time, senior-level marketing professionals with an average experience of 20 years, and with three to six investment manager clients across a diversified group of asset classes. These firms generally provide specialization by:
Market segment: selling to specific groups such as Corporate and Public Fund Pension Plans, Taft-Hartley Plans, Endowments and Foundations or the High-Net-Worth and Family Offices.
Asset class: working with managers of long-only traditional investment products, alternative asset classes such as hedge funds, private equity or some combination of alternative investments.
